| A functional, heavy-duty document holder was needed
for a scientific investigation of the effectiveness of ergonomic principles (see Scientific Data). The search for such a document holder was
fruitless, so Marilyn Hecht Dainoff, one of the investigators, with the help of Paul
Cooker and Klaus Thiel, invented the Standard Atlas. The enthusiastic response to the new
copy holder led to the decision to patent, manufacture and market this and other document
holders. |
Whoever designed the Atlas copy holder has struggled with real world work.

Marilyn Dainoff founded
Dainoff Designs, Inc. in 1994. As a certified professional ergonomist, her core design
values embody functionality, simplicity and usability. Thus Dainoff Designs' copy holders
are unique, combining sound ergonomic principles with a commitment to the needs of people who
use paper documents for work or leisure. The
company seeks to have customers understand fully the
ergonomic principles involved, by providing ergonomic
guidelines with each document holder.
Known as "Atlas" document holders
for their strength, the entire line provides incredible durability, adjustability, and
ease of document management. Recently,
Marilyn teamed up with Richard Prigozen of Creative Fabricators, Inc.
of Dayton, Ohio to design a very simple, contemporary book and copy
holder, the Atlas Ultra. |
