| A functional, heavy-duty document holder was needed
for a scientific investigation of the effectiveness of ergonomic principles (see Scientific Data). The search for such a document holder was
fruitless, so Marilyn Hecht Dainoff, one of the investigators, with the help of Paul
Cooker and Klaus Thiel, invented the Standard Atlas. The enthusiastic response to the new
copy holder led to the decision to patent, manufacture and market this and other document
holders. |

Marilyn Dainoff founded
